Unfinished Histories event 16th July 2013

Post by Weed »

Unfinished Histories record the history of alternative theatre -- they are doing an event focussing on squatting which includes a performance of "Squat", the play about Grosvenor Road by James Saunders -- it's on 16th July 2003 in East London - http://www.unfinishedhistories.com/category/pastevents/

i went along and met up with Margaret in the very pleasant cafe below where the event was to take place -- there were two plays read by volunteers from the 30+ people there -- Rough Theatre's "Squat Now While Stocks Last" was first, followed by James Saunders' "Squat" -- unfortunately the event started late and there wasn't time to finish it, but nevertheless everything went well, with appreciation of the content and lots of laughter at the humour in both plays

it was a good mix of people, including several who'd been involved in both squatting and alternative theatre -- there were also some squatters from South London, who are currently putting on a "Made Possible by Squatting exhibition" (9-16th September 2013)
